Tour of Istria - east coast

One of the main tourist attractions and the landmark of Pula is the amphitheater. The capacity is 23.000, which puts it on the sixth place of its kind in the world. Alongside other Roman legacies, who founded their colony Pietas Lulia in177 B.C. , the Temple of Augustus, the Forum, the Hercules Door and Arch of the Sergii are all worth seeing.

It is also recommended to take a walk through the pedestrian area, which features many shops and the marketplace.

 

One of the most beautiful cities of Istria is located on a hill above Rabac, whose name Albona has been mentioned in the year 285 B.C. It is the birthplace of Matthias Flacius, a ‘’fellow campaigner’’ of Martin Luther, and serves today as a cultural and administrative center. It is very difficult to find such a charming mixture of architecture and historical landmarks, where it is possible to admire all the artist’s workshops at close range. Gorgeous renaissance palaces, the church of Saint Stephen with a magnificent baroque façade, the parish church with the bust of Antonio Bollani and the town gate of saint Flor are the highlights that should notbe missed out.
